Mountain House Pouches -- NEW for 2013 -- up to 20 Year Shelf Life and more!
As of 2013, Mountain House has changed the shelf life from 7 years to 20 YEARS!! Based on storage studies conducted over the last 40 years, Mountain House pouch foods shelf life is up to 20 years from date of manufacture, as long as pouch is stored unopened in a cool area. After 20 years, a change in flavor and appearance may be noticed. For best results, avoid prolonged storage at temperatures above 75° F (24° C). Pouches typically last between 20 - 30 years if stored in a cool dark environment.

Mountain House Manufacture Date
The Mountain House product manufacturing code appears on the back of Mountain House pouches. The date in the code represents the date on which the product was packaged. January of 2001 we are now printing BEST IF USED BY dates on the back of each Mountain House pouch.
